BIO

I had a passion for music at a young age -- being born with perfect pitch, I was able to play back Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time" on my sister's piano at age 3!

Fast forward to age 9, when I first heard a Teresa Teng flute CD that my mom bought from an Asian souvenir shop in Las Vegas' mall. Coincidentally, I'd asked  my mom to also buy me a (mostly decorative) bamboo flute -- which did play! When I heard that CD, and managed to get a sound, that was the beginning of a lifetime adventure in flute playing.

Soon after, I began to research the western concert (Boehm) flute -- constantly listening to as many online samples as I could find. I knew this was the instrument for me, and managed to convince my parents to let me sign up for beginner band/begin learning how to play the flute "for real."

While my first band teacher helped establish a great foundation, most of my journey was self-taught, out of genuine curiosity and necessity. I learned to play most of the Teresa Teng CD's songs, by ear, within my first six months.

By high school, I was able to take up flute lessons with Dr. Joanna Berg - whom I'm forever grateful for! By that point I was ranking within the top 10% of my peers at all-region auditions, and by my first year at the University of Houston, I'd placed 2nd chair in the wind ensemble. Though my degree is in business, there's a large amount of commonality between skills needed in an office environment, vs. skills needed in a performance setting!

Currently, I enjoy creating flute content that consists of either covers, my own arrangements (for small flute ensembles), and classical pieces/excerpts.

I welcome any learning or performance opportunity! Please don't hesitate to contact me!
